The philosophy

The foundation of TennisGate is the collective experiences of their coaches from all facets of a tennis background. This is not only manifested through the many national and international titles won by our students, but also through the consistent and goal-oriented ways of training, a building process that is geared towards reaching medium and long-term goals. All TennisGate people have one thing in common: their ideas and actions, share the same vision: to educate coaches as well as students about the game of tennis.

The manner in which TennisGate approaches their job is a far cry from the “quick buck mentality” or the celebrated self-aggrandizing after one of their protégée’s victories. TennisGate combines a pool of tennis knowledge that has been strengthened through many years of cooperation in such varied fields as coaching, sports journalism or sports management on an extremely high level. It is this wealth of knowledge that is now available to tournament players, coaches and parents through the platform of TennisGate.

Practical Application of tennis theories

The TennisGate coaches transfer their observations and experiences from the tournament courts onto the practice court through exercises and game variations. The way TennisGate’s exercises and games are described is in a manner that the viewer/reader will be able to utilize and apply effectively to their practice sessions. This concept of clear communication as a necessary coaching tool is substantiated by the recognition Jürgen Müller receives as a nationally reknown writer of his long-running coaching series in the Official German Tennis Magazine (Deutsche Tenniszeitung). Jürgen is also a well sought-after speaker on coaching seminars all across Germany.
This is the central topic that lies at the heart of TennisGate’s coaching: practical application and that is clearly understood.

A passion for teaching

Regardless if you are the coach on the bench of a league match or on the practice court or if your clientele is with adult recreational players or the tiny tots who are anxiously awaiting their first tournament. It is these hungry eyes that we need as coaches to work successfully. Eyes that demand the knowledge of a coach and that will force him to incorporate his passion for teaching into the job. A coach however should never be more motivated than his/her student nor should she be less motivated.

Training for all levels

TennisGate is not exclusively training the highly talented, top juniors in Germany. But training with that particular group we deem as one of our greatest strengths. We are able to solve a lot of problems, regardless of the origin, because we work with students of all ability levels. We have never focused on one particular group, but nevertheless our specialty is the development of our players and performance based junior training.

The formula for our success

The basis of our success is the team spirit that is hovering over our training facility. A high-quality of training that is exemplified by the coaches and passed on to the players. Year after year numerous players are incorporated as assistant coaches. This provides perspective for the players themselves and as well the clubs that they end up working for. Many of our players pass on the training that they enjoyed as juniors to the tiny tots in their clubs. This process raises the level and quality of coaching in many clubs thus affecting the players.

The pillars of our education

  • General and tennis specific education of our junior players
  • Performance training
  • Talent scouting
  • Performance control and tournament coaching
  • Pedagogical (educational), sport psychological and medical support
  • Consultation on environmental influences
  • Instructions on code of conduct and fair play
  • Development of team spirt
  • Long-term approach

The foundation of our success of the past decade is our long-term approach to teaching and the tenacity that we are applying when we teach. The turnover rate at our academy, coaches as well as players, is significantly lower than at other facilities. The same coaches usually train the same players over a time period of 5 to 10 years. This guarantees valuable and meaningful reference values in the long run.
